Gum disease and untreated decay don’t only hurt—they limit productivity, confidence, and family life. Beaver Foundation exists to make preventive care easy and dignified for everyone. So when Peace Chapel International opened its doors, our team brought accessible, on‑site dentistry to the heart of the community in Nyamekye‑Lapaz, Accra.
Our clinicians set up triage and screening stations at Peace Chapel International, guiding congregants through oral exams, education, and basic care. We focused on three things: clear preventive messages, practical hygiene coaching, and immediate next steps for anyone needing further treatment. Across the morning, we provided free check‑ups and delivered essential services—including scaling and polishing where indicated—while answering questions on brushing technique, flossing, and diet.
Turnout exceeded expectations. Over 50 people participated, including families who might otherwise delay care. Of these, 9 children received scaling and polishing; 14 adults did, too. Four children with higher‑risk findings were referred directly to St. Michael Specialist Hospital (SMSH) for follow‑up. Alongside the clinical wins, the day strengthened ties between providers and community—exactly what community dentistry should do.

We’ve collected contact details and will follow up with every referral, guiding them to SMSH for definitive care. Our team is also exploring a repeat schedule with Peace Chapel International so congregants can access periodic screenings and hygiene refreshers on site.
